Jewellery & Paper Exhibition

Hampshire
Open Studios –
A Collaboration
with Paper Artist Lauren Pruen.

Every August, Hampshire Open Studios transforms the county into a celebration of creativity - doors open, benches cleared, and the usually private worlds of makers revealed. For me, it’s one of the most special times of the year: a chance not only to share my own practice, but to celebrate the creativity that surrounds us. Opening my studio doors has always been about more than jewellery - it’s about creating a space where stories, skills, and people come together.

This summer at 23 Little Minster Street, I’m delighted to be collaborating with paper artist Lauren Pruen. Lauren’s work takes the humblest of materials- paper- and transforms it through meticulous cutting and layering into something luminous, both fragile and architectural. Her practice, like mine, is slow and exacting, rooted in detail, patience, and the belief that simple materials can hold extraordinary meaning

At first glance, jewellery and paper might seem worlds apart. Yet when I first saw Lauren’s work, I recognised the same rhythm I feel at the bench: a devotion to process, an attention to the smallest of details, and the quiet satisfaction of shaping something by hand. Collaboration is where the magic happens—when different practices meet, they spark new conversations.

Together, our exhibition will be a dialogue between materials: metal and paper, permanence and ephemerality, weight and lightness. By opening my studio to Lauren’s work, I hope visitors see how disciplines can complement one another, echoing the wider cultural movement towards collaboration, cross-pollination, and community-driven creativity.

When you step into the studio this August, you’ll find more than just an exhibition. You’ll find a shared space of making—two practices meeting in dialogue, side by side. My bench may be made for jewellery, but my studio is made for people: a space to gather, to slow down, and to celebrate craft in all its forms.

We can’t wait to welcome you in.
