 Remodelling jewellery

Remodelling jewellery that is no longer worn is a lovely way to breath life into old materials such as gold, platinum and gemstones. There is always an element of risk when removing gemstones from their settings to reuse and this is something to be aware of.  All care and attention to detail is taken when handling old gemstones, but there can be no way of knowing if there is any existing damage such as cracks which may become apparent when removing the stone. In this case, Joanne will work closely with the you the customer to find a solution but the risk is taken by the customer and Joanne will not be responsible for the cost of replacing the stone.

There is equally a risk in melting down various pieces of old gold. While this may be hallmarked, Joanne cannot guarantee the composition of the metal and what will happen when it is melted down. Joanne will go to every effort to find out the metal before working with it, but cannot be held responsible for any metal that behaves and appears to be a lower grade metal. Sometimes old gold will just not melt down and roll out easily without cracking and in this case will not be able to be used.
